Mandatory notification and registration scheme for employment agencies. The regulation on new mandatory notification scheme for employment agencies entered into force on 1 January 2009. The regulation requires all employment agencies that hire out personnel in Norway to notify the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority. Several clear requirements designed to improve the industry’s reputation are being introduced – regarding fixed representation, union membership, finance and for the business to be legally registered in the Enterprise Register and with the tax authorities.
Approval runs for one year at a time, and must therefore be renewed annually.
Since 1 March 2009 businesses have only been permitted to hire staff from companies registered in the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority’s register, while businesses that wish to operate in Norway have also had to be registered.
